 REMEMBER: shhhhh! secret!
Ok, folks! Marty turns 40 Years Young this October 18th, and because he has been my best friend and most awesome partner for the last 13 of those years, I want nothing more than to genuinely surprise him on September 26th (he just loves surprises), and to celebrate him with an awesome, fun-filled day with family and friends! So, if you can find a way to keep a good secret until then, and then bring your best birthday cheer on party day, please join us... and know that I'll love you (even more) forever and ever! A NOTE on the invite list: Because Martin has been working out of Vancouver for more years than not in the last decade or so, and because we now live in an era of endless event invitations and busy schedules, this invite is going to folks that I may be being presumptuous about, hoping you would be happy to come spend this day with us, even if it's been a while! And with all of that in mind, I'd also like to note that this is not a completely exhaustive, far-reaching, 'everyone....and the kitchen sink' (huh?) list, even if it is going to folks who may not have had a laugh with the birthday boy in quite some time...so, if you know of someone who may not have received it but would like to celebrate Marty's 40th, please don't hesitate to contact me! And of course, there is no pressure, eh?...if you can make it, GREAT! If you can't, you'll be there in spirit for sure!

"But I Suck at Golf!"
First of all, everyone does...it's a brutal, heartbreaking game. However as you'll read below, this type of tournament IS a lot of fun for ALL SKILL LEVELS - from Caddy to Pro. Everyone gets to participate, but the usual stroke play pressure is alleviated big time! Mylora is an Executive Course, which means it is long par 3s and par 4s - shorter holes than a normal course. It's also very low key, nothing fancy...the perfect venue for a bunch of yaahoos :) It's just good laughs, adult bevvies, sunshine (fingers crossed) and fresh air! Sounds good? Ok, great! |

Don't worry about being a great golfer! For real.
First and foremost, this day will be about having fun in the great outdoors with a great group of people celebrating a great guy's milestone year on earth. Scramble tournaments are set up to ensure a fun day regardless of skill level. Scramble style means: the best of the tee shots is democratically selected, and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed (giggity). Select holes will have fun games, and each team of 4 will be curated in order to have at least one scramble "expert" / captain. (If you'd like to volunteer to be one of those, please let me know! (and thank you!) DRESS CODE: Mylora is being very cool about our Caddyshack theme - the ONLY restriction is: NO thong sandals or slip on shoe wear. Your patience is really appreciated in advance - I am not a professional tournament planner, and I'm on a limited budget, but I AM working hard to make sure this is a fun day for all! |
