Robin is awesome. A former colleague of mine from music industry days past, she is also a UBC student of classical trumpet with a strong passion for and love of all things musical. A newlywed, she says of her wife Marilyn: She makes my heart sing. I can also deduct the same goes for their beautiful son Marten - they are a gorgeous family! This update from Robin spurred by the t-shirt brings to mind one of my favourite, very simple yet very true quotes:

PJ is awesome. I can't tell you how many times she has single handedly boosted my experience watching live music with her pure and true fan energy. Pictured here on her birthday in front of the legendary Bill Graham Auditorium in San Fran this summer past, she was about to enter her 32nd Phish show on her 32nd birthday (current show count: 34, following that weekend!). I absolutely love her sentiments on Music is Love, not only because they resonate for me, but also because I've witnessed that passion firsthand many a time!: Music enriches, inspires and motivates me every day. It has given me the opportunity to connect with people in such unique and exceptional ways, and has undoubtedly shaped the way I live my life. Music is a great shared experience, yet also so incredibly personal it touches on emotions we never knew existed. It has caused me to act impulsively and irrationally (like driving sixteen hours straight for a show, or using the last of my savings to buy a festival pass), yet has given me insights and greater understanding of the world around me. Music is love.
Fez and Corina are awesome. Naturally enthusiastic, positive people who's love for music seems so pure and organic it's hard not to be struck by their dance-floor-energy-contagion! Fez makes comedy and films, Corina brings babies to life and is a committed midwifery advocate... and they both make the world a more fun place to be! Music is love.
mark is awesome. pictured here spending the day as tourist in his new city, our capital, with his beautiful wife Lisa and their two gorgeous children, mark left behind in vancouver a kickass musical legacy...but hopefully not for long! a return to a throbbing themasses dance floor is exactly what our vancity community needs! dude can shred on his guitar. for real. and on the flip side, he's got some mad sales skills too. talk about balance! i love this picture, thank you mark! music is love.
deb is awesome. rocking the north with her drum kit, making music with her hubby sean and her sweet son jack, she and i have put our love for music into many, many, many late night interpretive dances. and we have no regrets. i fully agree with deb's musings on music: music is the soundtrack to my soul. it is the mirror reflection of the revelations of the heart that transcends time. it can bring you to tears, trigger and unbridled dance and helps to release that which cannot be put into words. music is friendship set to music. music is spirit reaching into your heart and expressing what cannot otherwise be shared. music IS love. thank you, deb!
nora is awesome. i met her in my local vancouver dog park 2 years ago, when her dexter and my dexter were sniffing bums. noticing her X ring, we discovered we grew up mere minutes apart, all the way across the country. we've been been friends ever since! driven by her work with homeless people in the downtown eastside, inspired by thoughts of those she misses back home...for nora, 'music is the best friend that always knows what to say, rides shotgun on every road trip, kick starts every after-work kitchen dance party, and is the beat of every neighbourhood rich or poor. music is a universal language that doesn't need to be voiced to be felt. life is a melody and music is love!'. HELLS TO THE YEAH, nora! well said!
matt and jules are awesome. pictured here on the beautiful dog ranch they work at in a setting that could inspire a nature-is-love movement, matt is an original co-founder of the music is love religious movement after an evening spent poorly singing blind melon in my living room. for jules: music is an impromptu 3 am jam session with neighbours, a living-room dance off with your nearest and dearest, a solo power-ballad complete with air guitar in the shower. all of these moments put a smile on your face, and bring a simple joy to your heart...love. music is love. amen, sister. hallelujah!
chris aka lofft is awesome. he's been modelling all his life. a natural. says lofft about music: I associate some of the best times in my life with certain songs, so music is a constant reminder of the these times. Music has made me laugh, smile, dance, cry, learn, connect with strangers, express myself, reflect and helped me through hard times. Music is love.
